“Do you know a good hunting dog veterinarian where I live?”
That’s one of the most common questions we get asked in person when we meet fellow hunting dog enthusiasts. We're hunters and hunting dog owners just like you. Every verified veterinarian and clinic in the Hunt.Vet network undergoes extensive vetting (see what we did there?) to ensure they have the skillset and expertise demanded by the sporting dog community. The accreditation process involves a detailed survey, and each application is personally reviewed by our team before a veterinarian is approved. Based on the veterinarian's level of expertise, they'll receive an individualized Hunt.Vet Score that indicates just how much expertise they offer to the hunting dog community.

We're glad you asked. The Hunt.Vet Score associated with each search result helps quantify the extent to which each vet in our network is invested in the sporting dog community. The higher the number, the more likely the veterinarian is to hunt, own hunting dogs and bring an extensive skillset in sporting dog medicine to the table.
The Hunt.Vet Score is not a grade, review or endorsement, and it’s not on a 10-point scale. Rather, it’s our way to help you choose a sporting dog veterinarian that most closely aligns with your needs and the services you’re looking for.
The Hunt.Vet Score is built around an algorithm that you helped create. Our survey questions integrate crowd-sourced feedback directly from the sporting dog community as to the qualities they seek most in their veterinarian.
A lower Hunt.Vet Score doesn't mean they're not qualified. They wouldn't show up in the search results at all if that was the case. We've personally known many veterinarians who didn't hunt or didn't own sporting breeds that would be excellent doctors for your hunting dogs.

Absolutely. There's not much else we'd rather do than share a day in the field or blind with good dogs. It's nothing short of a miracle that we even made time to get this project off the ground.
If you’re a hunter or recreational shooter and not actively considering hearing protection, it’s time to step it up. We’re a quarter of the way through the 21st century, folks, and hearing loss from gunfire is not only preventable, it’s trending towards uncool.
