Hunting with sporting dogs in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey offers an exciting and traditional experience for upland bird and small game hunters. In New York, popular public hunting lands like the Connecticut Hill Wildlife Management Area and the Finger Lakes National Forest provide excellent opportunities for pursuing pheasants, grouse, and rabbits with trained dogs. These areas are known for their diverse terrain, making them ideal for pursuing feathered and furred game with pointers and retrievers.

Pennsylvania and New Jersey also boast prime locations for hunting with dogs. Pennsylvania’s State Game Lands, particularly SGL 176 and SGL 145, are renowned for grouse and woodcock hunting with bird dogs. In NJ, the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area and Wharton State Forest provide access for quail, rabbit, and pheasant hunting. Both states support robust hunting traditions with regulations that favor responsible sporting dog use.
