Chat with a Vet
Sporting dog advice from sporting dog veterinarians
With the Chat with a Vet program, you’ll be connected directly to a real veterinarian from our sporting dog vet directory that lives and breathes hunting dogs the way you do.
Not all online veterinary advice is created equal. You won’t find any AI-generated answers or Facebook Group Karens here, just real sporting dog vets that want to help others in the sporting dog community. These vets know first hand what it’s like to treat and hunt with dogs that work for a living.
How do I get started?
1. Read the FAQs
-
It's simple. We want to help the sporting dog community connect with veterinarians in the Hunt.Vet network to assist in triaging a problem, troubleshooting an issue, or providing advice for situations where an in-person veterinary visit is impossible or not available.
-
Get to your nearest emergency vet, ASAP. If you can’t find one, use our search feature to locate a sporting dog vet near you.
The Chat with a Vet program is not a substitute for in-person veterinary care.
-
Neither. The Chat with a Vet program is ADVICE ONLY. It’s not intended to diagnose or directly treat a medical issue in your sporting dog. Our vets cannot prescribe or refill medications in this platform.
-
No, unfortunately. This is an ADVICE ONLY platform and no veterinary-client-patient relationships (VCPRs) are formed, which is a legal requirement for prescriptions.

Chat with a Vet is not designed as a 24 hour vet help hotline. While there may be vets to consult with you for advice after hours, there’s no guarantee our vet members will be available. If your question receives no reply within 6 hours, reach out to us at admin@hunt.vet for a refund.
-
Not at this time, but it’s something we’re working on. When you submit a chat request, it goes into a general pool that our participating vets can review. From there, it’s first come, first serve for which vet will reply to you.
-
Absolutely. Send pics, documents, or other pertinent information directly in the chat portal. The more information the vets have, the better advice they can give.
-
Only if you’ve got money to burn at the vet clinic tomorrow.
Seriously, the vets on our advice platform may be able to help you through the process of appropriate field care to avoid a catastrophe. We love this stuff.
