FAQs for DVMs
-
If you’re already a verified Hunt.Vet veterinarian, send us a direct email giving us your name and your desire to OPT-IN to the CWAV program. By default, you won’t be notified if new chats come in unless you reach out to opt-in. If you’re not yet verified, visit our Join Hunt.Vet page and choose the Gold Package membership to get started.
-
Yes. You’ll need to be at least a Gold Membership subscriber to participate in and earn revenue from CWAV. You’ll more than pay your monthly membership fee with one chat.
-
If you’ve opted in to the CWAV program, you’ll receive an email whenever a New Chat has been posted. The button on the email will direct you to the veterinarian log in page. Under “Chat Listings” you’ll see any unclaimed chat requests. If you don’t see one, that means another veterinarian in our system has already claimed the chat request. (Better luck next time.) Once you claim the chat, you can begin communicating by clicking on the “All Chat” button on your Home Screen. From here, it should be self explanatory and a slightly less refined version of the myriad chat apps you’ve used before. Once you’ve finished the chat and resolved the customer’s issue with your sage advice, you can click on “Mark Question Resolved” to complete and close the chat.
-
That really depends on the customer and the situation you’re assisting with. Some may take just a few exchanges (“My dog ate a chocolate bar”), while others may take longer or require some followup depending on the complexity. Serious medical cases should get forwarded to your clinic or the customer’s nearest emergency veterinarian.
-
That’s entirely up to you. We strongly recommend if you go this route that you hide your number with *67 before connecting with the customer over the phone. While this exchange is general advice only, we prefer you stay in the chat portal so there’s a record of your conversation in case any issues or disputes arise.
-
The vet compensation is $25 for each completed and paid chat. We may entertain bonuses or other incentives as things project grows, especially for after-hours chats. We want to make it worth your while. Help us out by mentioning the CWAV program on your clinic site or socials.
-
No, your participation in the CWAV program is voluntary and you’re an independent contractor. You can participate as little or as much as you want simply by responding to or ignoring emails. There are no set schedules, time commitments, or participation minimums.
-
As a veterinary participant in this program, you’re an independent contractor. Keep in mind we’re not a big organization and we’re just getting off the ground, so please bear with us. It’s our goal to pay our vets within 15 days after the end of the month in which the chats took place. If you’ve participated in the program and are due revenue, we’ll request a W9 form and a Venmo account to direct your commission. We don’t have the bandwidth or a printer to cut checks, and that’s not likely to change.
-
No. It’s our goal to make this a general advice only format at this time. No prescriptions or refills, no hard medical advice. The legalities around telemedicine in the vet field are murky and evolving too quickly to mess with it at this point. Keep it on the surface, and don’t hesitate to recommend that the customer seek real medical advice in person if you feel it’s warranted of if they’d feel more comfortable. In order to submit a chat request, customers have to agree that they understand the general nature of this transaction and that they are not receiving professional advice. That said, it’s still a good idea to remind customers at the beginning of the chat what they should already know.
-
Again, we’re working on it. It’s going to happen at some point in the not-too-distant future.
-
Not at this time, although it’s something we’re working on in a future build for premium subscription veterinarians. We’re toying around with multiple options for hunters to get exclusive access to their favorite veterinarians in the Hunt.Vet platform. Stay tuned.
